Commonwealth Day 2019

Commonwealth Day is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations held on the second Monday in March. It is marked by a multi-faith service in Westminster Abbey, normally attended by Queen Elizabeth II as Head of the Commonwealth along with the Commonwealth Secretary-General and Commonwealth High Commissioners in London.

To celebrate Commonwealth Day 2019 on 11 March, the Royal Commonwealth Society of Singapore (RCSS) and the British High Commissioner hosted a reception at Eden Hall. The theme for this year's Commonwealth Day was "A Connected Commonwealth".  As part of the celebration, RCSS collaborated with students of the MDIS School of Fashion and Design to champion the message of sustainability through an avant-garde themed fashion show. The show featured recycled plastics as the centrestage material in students’ designs of wearable fashion. Click here for more details of the fashion show.
